Napoli striker Edinson Cavani has boosted the clubs chances of retaining the player next season after declaring that he is extremely happy at the club. Cavani has been linked with a move to some of the biggest clubs in the world including Chelsea and Real Madrid. The Argentine star has been a sensation with Napoli, while he has been able to transform the fortunes of the club in a short time. Many have been celebrating that Cavani at Napoli is very much similar to the rebirth of Diego Maradona at the club.
However, they are facing a tough challenge to qualify for the group stages of the Champions League next season because they have given the advantage to Udinese following their 2-0 loss at the hands of Bologna. With their top players playing all through the summer at Euro 2012 it might be a long and arduous season next year for Napoli.
Speaking ahead of the final match with Sienna, Cavani has said that he is extremely hopeful of qualifying for the Champions League with Napoli next season. He has also said that the game will feel like a cup final due to the importance. Many are expecting that Cavani and players like Hamsik will leave the club if they failed to qualify for the Champions League, but the Argentine striker has said that such speculation is way off the mark because they love the club.
“I feel the confidence of the environment and try to reciprocate, I thank my team-mates because they have helped me score many goals. It is not easy, but I always try to improve. I feel good at Napoli, I find everything easy. We have had a long season in which a lot has happened and our collective strength has allowed us to react in difficult times. We’re having a great year. The game against Bologna is one of three finals remaining. I hope the fans accompany us as they have done throughout the year in Italy and Europe,” he told Radio della Societa.
