French club Paris St Germain are extremely close to securing the signature of Napoli striker Ezequiel Lavezzi according to their sporting director Leonardo. Paris St Germain are expected to be one of the biggest spenders in the upcoming transfer window. They have already made a bid of € 46 million for the AC Milan defender Thiago Silva, although the Italian club has rejected the offer by saying that he is not for sale. Thiago Silva, though, only seems to be the tip of the transfer targets for Paris St Germain after sporting director Leonardo revealed that they could announced the signing of Napoli striker Ezequiel Lavezzi within the end of this week.
PSG finished in the second position in the French league behind surprise winners of the competition Montpelier. However, they are expected to challenge not only for the French league title, but also the Champions League as well under manager Carlo Ancelotti. Due to the lofty ambitions, they are expected to spend big in the upcoming transfer window. They have already been linked with Real Madrid midfielder Kaka, who has said that he might leave the Spanish club this summer after many seasons of speculation. It is thought that PSG have agreed a £ 30 million fee for the 27-year-old striker from Napoli.
“With regards to Lavezzi, I think everything will be postponed until next week. We have not yet completed the deal. Will he (Lavezzi) be unveiled to the media next week? We shall see,” Leonardo said to Sky Italia. Lavezzi’s contract with Italian club Napoli runs until 2016, but he is widely expected to leave the club after their failure to finish in the Champions League qualification positions. It is thought that PSG have offered Lavezzi a five-year contract and up to € 5 million per season.
