The manager of Napoli, Walter Mazzarri, has admitted that he hasn’t yet decided whether he will stay at the club after this season.
Napoli has performed pretty well in Serie A this season under the guidance of Mazzarri. They are currently at the second position in the points table behind Juventus with 75 points in 36 matches.
There have been some reports in the last few weeks that Mazzarri’s future at the club is not certain and now, the manager himself has also confirmed that.
When asked whether he will stay at the club, Mazzarri said, “I am yet to decide about it. This is not in my mind at the moment. The season is in progress and you can’t think about these things at this point of time.”
“When the season gets over, I will sit and think with calm head about my future. Right now, I am the manager of Napoli and I want the team to perform well in the last couple of games. It’s very important to end the season strongly.”
There also have been speculations that AS Roma is interested in Mazzarri. Currently, Aurelio Andreazzoli is in charge of Roma, but, he is only an interim manager. He was appointed in the second half of the season after the sacking of Zdenek Zeman.
It’s almost certain that the Giallorossi will appoint a new boss in the next season and Mazzarri is the one whom they are interested in.
When asked about that, Mazzarri said, “Honestly speaking, I don’t have any idea about that. They haven’t approached my agent till now. I don’t know how you guys know about their interest in me.”
Mazzarri had been appointed as the Napoli boss on the place of Roberto Donadoni in October 2009.
